Automated responses
By default, every company should have a set of responses (also referred to as programs in Mobile API parlance) configured for compliance reasons:
-
STOP: Opt-out a device from receiving future messages from the relevant or receiving originator.
The program will send a confirmation message to the opting-out handset, indicating their opt-out was successful.
-
HELP: Sends an informational response to subscribers inquiring about your organization or company.
-
UNMATCHED: Sends a fallback response when the MO content doesn’t match any predefined keyword on the originator.
Note: The UNMATCHED program is more frequently used in the United States than in the United Kingdom. It is not required for compliance and can be disabled if requested.
There are sensible default keywords and message copies preconfigured for all these default programs. For example, STOP is preconfigured to respond to the “STOP” keyword with a message along the lines of: “You're unsubscribed. You will no longer receive messages unless you text us again.”
Note: Work with your account manager to set up additional keywords and customize the message copies used.
