Customer Fields: Validation Reference
This topic describes each customer field type available in Rant & Rave, including how each field is validated and the type of data it is designed to capture. Use this reference when configuring surveys, forms, or data collection workflows.
Field Types & Validation Rules

| 1 | String | 250 | First Name, Last Name, etc. | Accepts any text input, including letters, numbers, special characters, and emojis. |
| 2 | Filterable Timestamp | — | Date & time entry | Must be a valid date and time. Times are assumed to be in the user's local timezone and are automatically converted to UTC. Required format: yyyy-MM-dd'T'HH:mm:ss.SSS'Z' (ISO 8601). |
| 3 | Score | — | Numeric score (positive whole number) | Only the digits 0–9 are accepted. |
| 4 | Unstructured Text | — | Open-ended customer feedback | Accepts any text input, including letters, numbers, special characters, and emojis. |
| 5 | Filterable String | 250 | Product line selection (e.g. a list of products) | The value entered must match one of the predefined options configured in your Field Options settings. |
| 9 | Timestamp | — | Date & time entry | Must be a valid date and time. Times are assumed to be in the user's local timezone and are automatically converted to UTC. Required format: yyyy-MM-dd'T'HH:mm:ss.SSS'Z' (ISO 8601). |

| 11 | Phone | — | Phone number | Must be a valid phone number. The default country is the UK; numbers from other countries must include an international dialling code. Valid numbers are automatically formatted on entry. |
