What you might see
When an iPhone running iOS 27 receives an MMS message that includes an image, the link underline in the message text shifts to the left. The underline covers the character just before the link, such as the space, and leaves the last character of the link without an underline.
For example, a message that reads Please visit http://lil.ms/test/avspkx might show the final x isn't underlined.
Does this affect my links?
No. Your links still work. When a subscriber taps the link, it opens the full, correct URL. Mobile Commons sends the complete link, and click tracking continues to work as normal.
This issue only changes how the iPhone Messages app displays the link.
Who is affected
- Affected: Subscribers on iPhones running iOS 27 who receive MMS messages.
-
Not affected:
- SMS messages.
- iPhones running iOS 26.
- Android devices.
As of September 2026, about 3% of iPhones and iPads in North America run iOS 27, which is fewer than 2 in every 100 mobile users. This number will grow as more people update their phones. Source: Statcounter Global Stats.
Cause
This is a display issue in the iOS 27 Messages app. It isn't caused by Mobile Commons, your message content, or the carrier. Our team confirmed the same behavior when sending directly through our messaging provider, outside of the Mobile Commons platform.
What we're doing
We've reported this issue to Apple, and we're monitoring for a fix in an upcoming iOS update. We'll update this article when Apple releases a fix. If you like to help with resolving this issue much faster, please fill out a feedback with Apple. www.apple.com/feedback/messages-ios-ipados/
What you can do
You don't need to change your messages. If you'd like to avoid the display issue while we wait for Apple, send the message as SMS without an image, or send the image separately with an SMS as a follow-up.
