Creating mCommons Zaps

After connecting mCommons to Zapier, you will need to create Zaps to automate your tasks. For more information, see Setting up Zapier integrations.

Zaps use an API connection to send information from a source, the trigger app (for example, Google Sheets), to a target, the action app (mCommons), without your needing to write code.

To create a Zap:

1. Do one of the following:

   • Open the Zapier navigation menu and then select Create Zap.

     

   • Select Zaps to open the Zaps menu and select Create within the Zaps page to open the Zap editor.

2. Select your trigger app, that is, the source of information to trigger an action in mCommons.

   Note: mCommons cannot be selected as a trigger app. How you configure the trigger app will depend on the selected app; for example, this procedure illustrates setting up Google Sheets as a trigger.

3. Select mCommons as your action app, the target.

4. In the Action menu, select an event to perform when the Zap runs:

   • Create or update a profile

   • Find a profile

   • Send a message

5. Select Continue.

6. Select the mCommons account to use in the Zap, and then select Continue.

7. Enter the details for your action:

   • Create or update a profile

   • Find a profile

   • Send a message

8. Select Continue to proceed to testing.

9. Verify that the summary of your settings is correct, and then select the test step button.

   In the event of an error, you will see a message indicating why the test failed.

   Tip: If you enter all your action details correctly, for example, the campaign is valid, but the Zap does not work, go to the Zapier Help Center for assistance.

10. If the test is successful, select Publish to create your Zap.

Create or update a profile

To create a new profile, complete the following form:

1. Map the phone number to the desired field in the trigger apt, for example, Google Forms/Sheets/etc.

2. Select the campaign from the drop-down list.

3. Select the opt-in path from the drop-down list.

4. (Optional) Map the first name to the desired field in the trigger apt.

5. (Optional) Map the last name to the desired field in the trigger apt.

6. (Optional) Map the email address to the desired field in the trigger apt.

Find profile

To find a profile, complete the following form:

1. Map the phone number to the desired field in the trigger apt, for example, Google Sheets.

2. Select Yes or No (default) to determine whether the step is a success if nothing is found.

Send a message

To send a message to a profile when the Zap activates, complete the following form:

1. Select the campaign from the drop-down list.

2. Map the message body to the desired field in the trigger apt, for example, map to column data or form value in Google Sheets.

3. Map the phone number body to the desired field in the trigger apt.
