Configuring Dynamic Ad Hoc Surveys
Dynamic ad hoc surveys are used when you want to send one off, campaign-based surveys for research or deep-dive purposes. These surveys use email to web form channel, have multiple questions, and each campaign will likely have a different set of questions.
Dynamic ad hoc surveys are configured in one of two ways:
-
Fixed meta data headers.
-
Dynamic data field.
Both options will allow you to :
-
Configure your email to web form surveys without raising a change order with Rant & Rave.
-
Build surveys in the survey builder tool.
-
Link the survey to a campaign meta data header configured for the project.
-
Include an ad hoc email subject.
-
Include an ad hoc email intro.
-
Trigger feedback with a data file over sftp or API call.
-
Process your feedback using your existing taxonomy.
Note: reporting on your feedback will depend on which option you use.
-
Fixed meta data headers can be reported in the Fast Feedback dashboard as well as Discover.
-
Dynamic data fields require reporting in Discover.
To enable dynamic ad hoc surveys, Rant & Rave will need to first configure new meta data headers, e.g. campaign, URL, etc., workflow, and email template for your project.
Fixed meta data headers
This type of ad hoc survey uses fixed named meta data fields for your responses. The number of questions is limited to the number of fixed named meta data fields.
To use this ad hoc survey, you must map the campaign to the meta data fields.
Mapped meta data fields will show in the Fast Feedback dashboard along with your survey responses.
Example: Rant & Rave configures your survey with 7 fixed meta data headers labeled MD1, MD2, etc.
When building your survey you would map your questions to these headers, i.e. question 1 is mapped to MD1, question 2 is mapped to MD2, etc.
Feedback to your survey appears in your dashboard, i.e. column MD1 contains the answers to question 1, etc.
Note: only the answers are recorded in the dashboard. You would need to cross reference the responses with the campaign to identify the question.
Example: you run two campaigns and have the following in your dashboard:
| Campaign | MD1 |
| AH230201 | Daily |
| AH230201 | Weekly |
| AH230118 | Train |
Cross-referencing the campaigns would reveal that the questions were:
How often do you visit the store?
How do you typically travel to our events?
Configuring fixed meta data header surveys
Should you wish to proceed with configuring fixed meta data header surveys, or for more information about ad hoc surveys, please contact your customer success manager.
Fixed meta data headers are one of the two standard options Rant & Rave can configure. Alternatively, you can use dynamic data fields.
When your ad hoc survey is configured, you can begin building a survey.
Dynamic data field
This type of ad hoc survey uses a dynamic data field to capture your data. A dynamic data field holds as many questions as you need.
Data is stored in the dynamic data field in the format {"Question1": "Answer1", "Question2": "Answer2", ... }.
To convert the field into a meaningful report, a script is configured and run in the Discover module. How your data would appear depends on how you configure your report.
