Understanding Taxonomy and the Sentiment Engine
During initial setup, your Rant & Rave support team will set up your projects and configure your sentiment engine. Utilizing a set of taxonomy rules relevant to your organization, the sentiment engine analyzes feedback from your customers and presents the results on your Fast Feedback dashboard.
The taxonomy builder is vital to the effectiveness of the sentiment engine, letting you manage the rules and organize the key words you would like to track and use in analysis of your feedback. From the taxonomy builder, you can:
-
Build your taxonomy tree.
-
Define rules, terms and word groups for analyzing your feedback.
-
View the coverage of your taxonomy.
-
Refine your taxonomy to improve coverage levels.
-
Export and import taxonomies.
Navigating the taxonomy builder
To begin using the taxonomy builder app, you must:
-
Log in to the application.
-
Select a project.
-
Start a new taxonomy, load an existing taxonomy (select from a dropdown menu), import a taxonomy, or open the live (currently used) taxonomy .
Tip: When you open the dropdown menu for taxonomies to load, each taxonomy shows a value for the percentage of feedback covered by the rules, etc. within that taxonomy.
The taxonomy builder window includes:
-
The menu bar - located on the top of the page and includes the project name (selected during log in), user menu, taxonomy name, save button, new button, and action menu.
-
The taxonomy tree - located on the left and consisting of four folders by default (process, people, product, and place).
-
The workspace pane - located in the centre of the screen, the content of the workspace screen changes based on the tab selected, allowing you to define a word group, create a rule, etc.
-
The feedback pane - located on the right and displaying related feedback for the selected item.
Tip: at the bottom of the taxonomy tree is a recalculate button, allowing you to recalculate your taxonomy's coverage after you edit your taxonomy.
