This article covers turning list cleaning on, choosing a Bounce count, and using the Cleaned Profiles page to see which profiles were cleaned and why. To learn what cleaning does, see How List Cleaning Works.
Who can do this: users with edit access. Users with view-only access and Agent View users can't change the setting.
Turn on list cleaning
- Click your profile menu in the top right, then click Configure Company.
- Check Enable Profile Cleaning.
- Choose a Bounce count. This field appears after you check the box.
- Click Update.
Cleaning starts counting from the moment you turn it on. Messages sent before then don't count.
Choose a Bounce count
Bounce count is the number of soft bounces in a row that cleans a profile. You can pick 3 to 8. The default is 3.
- A lower number cleans unreachable numbers sooner.
- A higher number gives subscribers more chances. This can make sense if you send only once or twice a week, since a phone that's off for a few days could otherwise be cleaned too soon.
Bounce count only applies to soft bounces. Hard bounces always clean a profile after one failure, whatever your Bounce count.
Turn off list cleaning
- Go to Configure Company.
- Uncheck Enable Profile Cleaning.
- Click Update.
When cleaning is off:
- No new profiles are cleaned.
- Profiles that are already cleaned still don't receive broadcasts. To send to them again, restore them. See Restoring Cleaned Profiles.
- If you turn cleaning back on later, it starts counting again from that moment.
See which profiles are cleaned
Go to Home > Cleaned Profiles. The page lists every profile in your account that's cleaned right now.
Each row shows:
- User: phone number, name and email
- Cleaned Date
- Cleaned Reason: HARD BOUNCE or SOFT BOUNCE
- First Seen Type and First Seen Date: how and when the profile first joined your account
- VIEW ERRORS: the failed messages behind the cleaning
To find profiles:
- Type in the Search by User details box to find a profile.
- Use the filter to show profiles by Cleaned Reason or First Seen Type.
- Sort by Cleaned Date or First Seen Date.
- Choose 15, 30 or 45 rows per page.
To download the list, click SAVE AS CSV. The export works even when cleaning is off.
See why a profile was cleaned
Click VIEW ERRORS on a row. The Cleaned Reason window lists the failed messages and their error codes.
- For a hard bounce, it shows the one failure that cleaned the profile.
- For a soft bounce, it shows as many recent failures as your current Bounce count. If you change your Bounce count, this list changes too.
To learn what each code means, see List Cleaning Error Codes.
Check a single profile
Open the profile. A cleaned profile shows a CLEANED label and a Cleaned Reason. This is the most up-to-date place to check one profile.
