Several places in mCommons show cleaned profiles. Each one counts a different group of profiles, so the numbers won't always match. This article explains what each number means and why a number can change or lag.
What each number means
- Profile page: the CLEANED label and Cleaned Reason show whether that one profile is cleaned right now. This is the most up-to-date place to check a single profile.
- Cleaned Profiles page: every profile in your account that's cleaned right now.
- Broadcast report (View cleaned profiles count): profiles that this broadcast cleaned and that are still cleaned. The number goes down when a profile is restored. If a later message cleans the same profile again, it no longer counts toward this broadcast.
- A/B test report: the same count, for each variation.
- Campaign report (Cleaned Profiles): campaign subscribers who joined during the report's date range and are cleaned right now, no matter which message cleaned them. If you don't pick dates, the range is the last month.
Because each number looks at a different group of profiles, they won't add up to each other.
Subscriber counts and cleaned profiles
Not every subscriber count leaves out cleaned profiles:
- Targeting step of a broadcast (Send Broadcast to [number] Active Campaign Subscribers): counts all active subscribers, including cleaned profiles.
- Review step of a broadcast (same wording): leaves out cleaned profiles while cleaning is on. This number can be lower than the one on the targeting step.
- Campaign report (Active Subscribers): counts active subscribers who joined during the date range, including cleaned profiles.
Cleaned profiles don't receive the broadcast either way, unless you choose to include soft bounce profiles.
Why a number can change or lag
- New cleaning: profiles aren't cleaned the moment a message fails. Cleaning runs in the background on a schedule, so a newly cleaned profile can take some time to appear.
- After you restore a profile: its profile page updates right away. The Cleaned Profiles page and the reports can take longer to catch up. If a profile you restored still appears on the Cleaned Profiles page, check its profile page before you restore it again.
- Saved counts: when you open a campaign report without picking dates, some numbers, including Cleaned Profiles and Active Subscribers, can be up to 30 minutes old. The subscriber count on the broadcast targeting step can also be up to 30 minutes old.
If you turn cleaning off
- Profiles that are already cleaned still don't receive broadcasts.
- These profiles appear again in your Profiles list and in the review step count, and profile exports show them as not cleaned.
- The Cleaned Profiles page and its export still list them.
- Their profile pages still show the CLEANED label.
FAQ
Why doesn't the broadcast report match the Cleaned Profiles page?
The broadcast report counts only the profiles that broadcast cleaned. The Cleaned Profiles page counts every cleaned profile in your account.
I restored a profile, but it's still on the Cleaned Profiles page. Did it work?
Open the profile. If the CLEANED label is gone, the restore worked. The Cleaned Profiles page updates later.
Why did a broadcast's cleaned count go down?
Some of those profiles were restored. A profile is restored when someone restores it by hand, when the subscriber texts in, or when a later message is delivered to them.
Why are the two "Send Broadcast to" numbers different?
The targeting step counts all active subscribers. The review step leaves out cleaned profiles while cleaning is on.
