Creating linked field mappings
From the Field Mappings list, you can map values of a structured field to populate the value of another structured field. For example, the data feed intoRant & Rave may contain a field called Agent ID with a value of 9625. You could use the field mappings to map this value to a structured field called Agent Name with a value of ‘Joe Smith’. From that point on, any Agent ID with a value of 9625 will populate the Agent Name field with a value of ‘Joe Smith’.
Field mappings can be applied on a one-by-one basis or by uploading a spreadsheet containing a list of mappings. Once set, mappings can be deleted or edited individually.
Note: This may be different from your original product setup, in which the Rant & Rave team sometimes needed to create field mappings for you.
From the Settings page:
-
Click Field Mappings.
You see a list of existing field mappings.
-
Click Add Mapping.
-
Click the Select field drop-down list, and then select the field to base your mapping on.
-
Enter the mapping data into the relevant columns.
For example, if you are mapping team leader information based on the agent name, select the Agent field and then enter the team leader information into the Team Leader column.
- To confirm, click the tick (
).
Uploading linked field mappings
You can create or amend new mappings in bulk using the Export & Upload function. This also allows you to see all of your current mappings on one sheet.
From the Settings page:
-
Click Field Mappings.
You see a list of existing field mappings.
-
From below the list, click Export.
The export file is formatted as follows:
-
Field: The first column contains the name of the meta field you want your mapping to run from. You must ensure this field is set as a mappable field within the Dashboard.
-
Mapping: This is the value to look for within the meta field you specified in the first column. This must be exact and is case sensitive.
-
Meta: This field is used as a separator to tell the Dashboard that anything to the right of this field will be updated in the Dashboard. Leave this column blank.
-
'Team Manager': This is an example of a friendly name field name on the Dashboard. It is possible to have more than one field updated based on the mapping.
-
-
Open the export file and fill in the fields to upload to the field mappings list.
In this example upload file, the following fields are mapped:
- When John Smith is received into the Advisor column, Sarah Jones will be the Team Manager and Team Name will be populated with Blue.
- When Store ID is received as 444, Coventry will be the Store Name and Fiona Johnson will be the Store Manager.
-
When you are done, save the file in an accessible location.
- To upload the new field mappings, return list of field mappings and click Upload.
-
Navigate to the upload file location, and click Open.
The field mappings in the upload file are uploaded to the field mappings list.
