RCS broadcasts have a dedicated reporting layout in Mobile Commons that goes beyond standard SMS metrics. It surfaces billing tier breakdowns, suggested action engagement, per-message stats, and response attribution, including A/B test variants.
Accessing a report
Go to the broadcast listing and select the broadcast you want to review. The RCS-specific layout loads automatically for any broadcast sent via the RCS channel.
Billing Tier card
The report includes a Billing Tier card alongside the Delivery card. It breaks down message volume by tier:
| Row | What it shows |
|---|---|
| Rich | MT count and segment count (e.g., "750 MTs / 812 segments") |
| Rich Media | MT count |
| SMS Fallback | Message count |
| MMS Fallback | Message count |
An info tooltip explains: "Counts all RCS messages billed to this broadcast, not just the original send. Follow-up RCS messages which are sent when someone taps a suggested reply are also included."
Billing totals can exceed the original recipient count because of follow-up messages from reply trees. See Rcs Billing Limits And Specs for tier definitions.
Per-message stats
Each message in the broadcast renders as a numbered section with its own metrics:
| Metric | Description |
|---|---|
| Generated MTs | Total messages generated |
| Failed MTs | Messages that couldn't deliver |
| Sent MTs | Messages successfully sent |
| Recipients | Unique recipients |
| Response Rate | % who responded |
| Received Responses | Total responses |
A preview of the message content and suggestion chips appears alongside the stats.
Response tracking
The Responses table breaks down how recipients responded. Each type shows its count and percentage of total responses.
RCS-specific response types
| Type | Description |
|---|---|
| Reply | Free-text reply from the recipient |
| Opt-out | Recipient opted out |
| RCS Suggested Reply | Recipient tapped a reply chip |
Carousel response attribution
For carousel broadcasts, responses include the card number in parentheses so you can attribute engagement to specific cards and compare across the carousel.
Suggested Action tracking
When a broadcast includes suggested actions, the MT/MO report shows a Suggested Action column with per-action details:
| Action Type | Tracked details |
|---|---|
| Dial Phone | Type, Phone Number, Tapped / Not Tapped |
| Open URL | Type, URL, Tapped / Not Tapped |
| Calendar | Type, Event Title, Added / Not Added |
Key behaviors:
- Messages without actions show "None" in the column.
- When a message has several actions, each one shows its own status.
- Statuses update on page refresh.
- Logs persist across views; data isn't lost when you navigate away.
Action tracking works for Basic and Enhanced messages only. It isn't available for Rich Card or Carousel types.
A/B test reports
Each variant in an A/B test gets its own metrics:
| Metric | Description |
|---|---|
| Sent | Messages sent for this variant |
| Delivered | Messages delivered |
| Read | Messages read |
| Rich | Rich-tier message count |
| Rich Media | Rich Media-tier count |
| SMS Fallback | SMS fallback count |
| MMS Fallback | MMS fallback count |
Outbox filtering
The Outbox page supports RCS-specific filters to find individual messages:
| Filter | Options |
|---|---|
| Message Type | Select RCS (or All for everything) |
| Search | Keyword or content |
| Date Range | Narrow to a specific window |
| Status | Delivery status |
| Campaign | Associated campaign |
Filters combine, so you can filter by RCS + date range + campaign simultaneously.
The Originator column shows the sending channel: shortcode, 10DLC number, or RCS Agent.
Composer billing indicator
While composing (before sending), the composer shows a live billing label:
| Label | Meaning |
|---|---|
| RCS | 1 Rich segment (≤160 bytes) |
| Multi Segment RCS | Multiple segments (count shown) |
| Enhanced Rich Media | Flat-rate Rich Media |
This helps you understand billing before you send.
Tips
- Follow-up billing. Reply trees generate extra billed messages beyond the original send. The Billing Tier card includes these.
- Test reports. A/B test per-variant stats let you compare not just engagement but billing impact across variants.
- Preview in reports. Toggle between Current and Archived conversations. Previews include suggestion chips.
