Opt-outs operate at the account level, not per project. The sections below outline how opt-out works for Rant & Rave:
Opt-In/Opt-Out Mechanism:
Customers can opt in or opt out of receiving communications (such as surveys, alerts, or marketing messages) via various channels (email, SMS, and others). This is typically managed through unsubscribe links, STOP replies, or API calls.
- Level of Application:
- Account Level:
The opt-out is generally applied at the account level. This means if a customer opts out, they are opted out for all projects under that account.- Example: If a recipient opts out from communications for Account A, they will not receive any further communications from any project under Account A
- If a recipient is associated with multiple accounts, opting out from one account does not affect their status in another account.
- Project Level:
Opt-out is not applied at the project level. If a customer is opted out at the account level, they are opted out from all projects within that account.
- Account Level:
- Special Cases:
- If a customer requests to be opted out “completely,” support teams will ensure the opt-out is applied across all accounts/projects as needed.
- Opt-in requests (to reverse an opt-out) are also processed at the account level.
The STOP opt-out mechanism is automatically built into all outbound SMS.
Is SMS Opt-Out Automatically Configured for All Messages in Rant & Rave?
Default Configuration
- By default, the SMS Opt-Out message footer is configured for all Desktop subscribers in Rant & Rave.
- This means that, unless specifically overridden, all outbound SMS messages will include an opt-out instruction (for example, “Reply STOP to opt-out”).
- The opt-out footer can be customized at the user or subscriber (account) level, but the default is to include it.
Compliance
- This setup ensures compliance with both UK and US regulations.
- For UK, only STOP is required, but Rant & Rave supports all common keywords for simplicity and compliance with US standards.
Exceptions & Overrides
- It is possible for administrators to override or remove the SMS footer at the user or subscriber level, but this is not the default.
- There are features (for example, SMS_FOOTER and ADD_SMS_FOOTER) that control whether the footer can be removed.
