Mobile Commons: Wrong districting data - Regeocoding all the locations
Information
Some clients started reaching out recently reporting some users are being redirected during the mconnect calls to the |wrong districts/legislators.
We did some digging and found that every 10 years the US conducts a census process. Once the data/results for this census are ready, each US state starts its own redistricting process on the congressional/federal level and on the state level as well based on the results.
The last census process started in 2020. After that, all the states proceeded with the redistricting process and got new districting maps drawn.
As a solution for this, the dev. team started a full re-geocoding process for all US locations on the platform to update the districting data for each location on the federal and state levels.
More information on this and the geocoding process is in this JIRA ticket:
https://uplandsoftware.atlassian.net/browse/MC-12051
During the geocoding process that took a few weeks due to the sheer amount of locations that needed to be updated, we:
1- Added a platform alert to let our clients know about the work we are doing.

2- Created a customer-facing article for more information on this work and to show the progress of the geocoding process. We updated it daily.
