Symptoms
We received multiple reports from MoveOn regarding significant delays when using group filters in Mobile Commons. The issue occurred when users applied complex filters across several groups, causing the interface to take longer than expected to load or respond. In some cases, we were unable to make changes through the UI, and had to escalate the necessary modifications to the engineering team for resolution. This affected their ability to manage and organize profiles efficiently for campaign reporting and audience segmentation, making the overall process less efficient for their needs.

To address the complications reported by MoveOn, we developed alternative groups for the three main groups, simplifying the filters to enhance overall usability. This initiative aimed to improve performance and clarity in managing profiles effectively.

We created alternative groups for the three main groups that were causing complications and were most used:
1. Actives Group

Inclusion Filter Changes: Removed Opt-in Path filters. As profiles captured by these filters will be included by the existing filter Sent any Message is greater than August 31, 2023
Exclusion Filter Changes: No changes made.
2. Reengagement Group

Replacement: https://secure.mcommons.com/groups/945933
Inclusion Filter Changes: Removed Opt-in Path filters. As profiles captured by these filters will also be included by the existing filter Sent any Message is greater than August 31, 2023
Exclusion Filter Changes: Removed In Group is interactions in the last year and In Group is keyword texters in the last year.
3. Inactives Group

Exclusion Filter Changes: Updated the exclusion filters to include Replacement_Actives and Replacement_Reengagement, removing all other unnecessary filters to simplify the group’s criteria.
Note: For the new replacement groups, we standardized the date filter to Sent any Message is greater than August 31, 2023. This change ensures consistency across all relevant filters and eliminates confusion regarding previous date settings.
