Mobile Commons: Why can't we change the domains of the shortened links to HTTPS?

Elaborated more on why we can't change the domains of the shortened links to HTTPS

We discussed this with the development team and unfortunately, the shortened links cannot currently be changed to HTTPS due to some technical reasons as we will have to handle all the security certificates for all the sub-domains using our link shortener which will be extremely hard due to the sheer amount of the domains currently using it.
