Provided information on requesting and Using VoIP Numbers
Answer
What is a VoIP?
Each active mConnect requires a VoIP (Voice-over Internet Protocol) number. The VoIP number is also the number that shows up on a user’s phone if he or she triggers an mConnect call via SMS, usually by replying with the word CALL to a broadcast from you. Be sure to check out our VoIP video!
Before building your mConnect check your account for an active and available VoIP number. This VoIP number is what the user calls if calling directly into an mConnect.
Checking and Adding a New VoIP Number
You can check this by going to Phone Calls > VoIP Numbers. Available numbers will have no mConnect attached to them and will not display anything under "Status". If all of your numbers are either taken or unavailable (denoted by a red exclamation point icon) you'll need to request a new VoIP number be added to your account. Simply submit a support ticket at mc_support@uplandsoftware.com. In your support ticket please include the following:
- How many VoIP numbers you need
- Which platform account you would like them in
- Whether you want those numbers to be toll-free or local. If local include desired area code
Viewing your VoIP Numbers
To view your VoIP numbers, their availability and the mConnect they are associated with simply head to "VoIP Numbers" under the Phone Calls tab. To go to the mConnect associated with a number simply click on the blue mConnect displayed next to the number.
Selecting a VoIP Number for your mConnect
To assign your VoIP number to your mConnect, simply select your available number from the "VoIP Number" drop down in the "New mConnect" options.
If one of your mConnect campaigns has ended, you can reuse and reassign that VoIP number to any other mConnect. Just navigate to the mConnect you want to end. Then on the next screen click Deactivate mConnect. Once you’ve deactivated the mConnect, the VoIP number will automatically be made available to use in your new mConnect.
