Mobile Commons: Double Opt-In
Resolution Summary
Provided information on Double Opt-In
Answer
You can build out a confirmation message that will be sent to anyone texting in your keyword; the texter will then be asked to confirm their subscription by replying "Yes". Upon receiving this confirmation back the texter will be marked as a subscriber. Double opt-ins allow for an additional layer of assurance that your messages are only reaching people who have explicitly stated they are interested in receiving text messages from your organization. We recommend working with your mobile strategist to determine how and when to use double opt-ins.
To build out your double opt-in or confirmation message, you'll first build out your opt-in path. After you've built the opt-in path you'll go to "Opt-In Path Actions" and select "Opt-in Path Settings"

Next select "Send a confirmation message. (e.g. 'Reply YES to confirm.')
Subscription Flow
You can customize the opt-in confirmation message as well as the decline message. These may both be updated by selecting "Subscriptions Flow" after enabling the double opt-in under "Opt-In Path Settings". Upon enabling this you will see "Subscription Flow" in your opt-in path. Simply select "Subscription Flow" and the "Confirm Message" and "Decline Message" areas will appear. You may edit either of these.
For the "Confirm Message" Yes (or supported normalized "Yes" words) MUST be the confirmation word. You can add your organization's name to the beginning of the message. You must also include standard compliance language.
We do not recommend editing this confirmation message beyond the inclusion of an organization's name at the beginning of the message, or translating the content to match the rest of your messaging's language. For the Decline message be sure to include your organization's general contact email.
NOTE: If the profile responds with any message other than Yes, it will be considered a decline of the double opt-in path, and the profile will be opted out of the campaign.
- For first-time interactions with the platform, the profile will be marked as Opted-Out when they receive the double opt-in message. If they reply yes, they will be subscribed to the campaign, and their profile will be updated to Active Subscriber.
- For profiles already subscribed to the account, if they have received the Reply YES message but respond with anything other than Yes, they will only be opted out of the campaign associated with the double opt-in path, not the entire account.
