TITLE: Mobile Commons – Liquid not behaving correctly with broadcasts
DATE, TIME AND DURATION
START TIME: 2024/05/15 – 23:00 ET
RESOLUTION TIME: 2024/05/22 – 02:00 ET
Duration: 6 days, 3 hours
OVERVIEW
On Tuesday May 21st, 2024, around 12:40 PM ET, HSUS reported an issue with how the liquid
“if” statement was behaving in their broadcast. The Mobile Commons support team started investigating immediately and confirmed that for the message where there are “if” and “else” statements, the system ignores the else message.
As soon as confirmed, the issue was escalated to the engineering team and they started investigating the root cause. It was identified to be related to the new broadcast generation technology introduced in May release, where liquid logic was not escaping the “else” clause.
ROOT CAUSE & REMEDIATION
- ROOT CAUSE: The liquid logic within the new broadcast generation technology was
not behaving correctly with the else clause.
- REMEDIATION PLAN:
- Short term: A code change has been deployed to correct the liquid behavior on 5/22/2024 around 2 AM ET.
- Long term: The corresponding specs have been put in place to avoid from happening again in the future.
- RCA ISSUE ID: MC-14169
